Spring Has Sprung

Spring is here and it’s killing me not to be able to get out and plant new stuff.  With the house sold, it just doesn’t make a lot of sense to spend money on something I’m going to leave behind. But I’ve been out in the yard a lot lately, taking pictures of all the blooming beauties. I know the neighbors think I’m a nut job, but with one foot out the door (or out of the neighborhood), I just don’t care anymore!!  (Not that I cared all that much before, but I did try to time my photo shoots when nobody was around.)

I’ll try to make my gardening posts to somewhat instructive, but this one is all about showing off the blooms.  These pictures are a week or two old, so I’m going to have to head out again. Watch for the plant paparazzi!

And check out my new umbrella (the picture is fuzzy because it’s from my phone).
I’m not sure if they’re still on sale (I snagged this last week), but Southern States had 9 foot umbrellas for $39.99!!! And even better, if you go to their website and sign up as a new user, you can score a $5 coupon. Yep, I got this ginormous bad boy for $36 with tax. Good thing it tilts, because I think it might be bigger than my new deck!

The One that Got Away

I was trolling my local Goodwill store this past Monday and came across this little gem.

I like the back and the fact that it had a wide seat that pops out easily. I was thinking I could paint it a fun color (not just black or white) and recover the bottom for cheap. The best part, the chair was only $9!!! But, being the wishy-washy person that I am, I wasn’t sure. I intended to use it as a computer desk chair in my new “study,” but I couldn’t commit. Yes, couldn’t commit to $9, because what I really want is something more like this one (though not the colors) from World Market.

Of course, these types of chairs run about $100-150 and that’s just not in the budget right now. So, I showed the Goodwill chair picture to my non-thrifting hubby and he said go for it. Three hours later, we swung by Goodwill to pick it up on the way home from errands and....it’s gone. Yes, chairs are plentiful and easy to find, but still. Lesson learned...if you like it and it’s cheap, don’t leave it behind!

Signed, Sealed and (almost) Delivered

It's done!!!!  We did it...we bought a house.  Or almost anyway.  We offered, they countered, we countered and they accepted it!  Now the fun stuff begins...paperwork, inspections, paperwork, packing, more packing. Anyone want to have a packing party??
Needless to say, I'm going to be worthless for the rest of the day. I've already surfed the net for new shower curtains. Not sure why, when I have more important things to think about. Especially since I already have a showe curtain to carry over to the new house. But oh well. This one's my favorite...what do you think? Too girly??

Bed, Bath and Beyond

I guess I should be focused on something a little more important, like making a list of all the hundreds of things that need to be coordinated!!

The End of the Road?

In my previous whiny post, I wasn’t sure if that was “the one” or not...well, we know now that it doesn’t matter if it is or not.  That house sold and gone.  But we’re on to better things!!  We have an official contract on our house and we’ve got 15 days to find something to buy or we lose the offer.

After 6 months of looking, I’m not sure how we think that’ll happen in 15 days, but I think we might have found the right one.  Of course, no angels sang when we walked through the front door, but it’s nice.  It’s really nice as a matter of fact.  And it’s big. Over 900 more square feet than we have now. Huzzah! Space to spread out!

I didn’t get the fixer that I wanted, but from the looks of the list of things I want to do to the house (and the cost), that’s probably ok.  And the scrubby back yard is just itching for a little landscape love.  We’ll cross our fingers that the offer is accepted, though I know it’s too low and we’ll have to go back and forth a few times.  Wish us luck!

Do I stay or do I go now?

Househunting has gotten the best of me. I'm discouraged, dejected, deflated and thoroughly depressed. How do you know when it's "the one?"  I watch HGTV and they always seem to know right away that it's the perfect house. Heck, I didn't even know the house we currently live in was "the one" and it's been great.

We found one that seems to have a lot of what we want, but we're still paralyzed by indecision. It looks great on the outside - the traditional look I like, but the kitchen is pretty hideous. Is that a deal breaker??
I think I just need someone to tell me what to do.  Anyone?? Bueller?
